Would you please suggest some important books for beginners in share market?

I am 23 year old and very much interested in investing in stocks.I already have invested in the market. But I need to know the basic rules of the game. So please let me know some of the very good books that will be handy to know the basics of investing and share market.( I already red " Intelligent investor" by Graham. )

Stock market is the best form of investment and the sooner you start the better. So congrats that you have started of at 23 

There are 2 methods to analyze stock market..

Fundamental analysis: here you study the company performance, strengths and future growth potential and current valuation.

Technical analysis: here you observe just 2 things basically.. the movement of share price of the company and the volume/number of shares being bought and sold of the company..

The idea is that big investors like FII and mutual funds to detailed fundamental analysis of 100’s of companies and identify the top shares.. they then start being the shares of these top companies.. this action can be caught by doing technical analysis.. then one can just follow these trends and make money while all the hard work has been done by big investors..

I started of doing fundamental analysis but then shifted to technical analysis because I found that the news we get is manipulated, they big guys know all the big news 1 month in advance.. if I followed technical analysis I could have seen it 1 week after them.. but as a fundamental analyst I saw it a full month late in most cases.. just when those big guys want to book their profit by selling their stocks to small guys like me..

So definitely study technical analysis books..

2 that I have read are
1. “technical analysis of stock trends” by Robert d Edwards and john magee
2. How to make money trading derivatives by ashwani gujral

they are both decent books..

but what I found extremely good was a 2 day course on technical analysis.. as it was practical.. easy to apply and straightaway profit making.. U can make 40 percent profits per year by following their method.. you can find the details here in this site http://www.invest-in-shares-in-9minute.com/

I am creating this website http://www.easy-profitable-shares-investing.com. It should take one month to be fully uploaded and I aim to make it the best site in internet for all information about shares (like basics, fundamental analysis, technical analysis).

I am looking for a new broker for Stocks and Forex.?

Hey folks,
I am looking for a new broker for Stocks and Forex.

I have been using TD Ameritrade for stocks for a few years.
Pros: Like their platform.
Cons: They don’t do forex and their commissions are high.

Opened an account with Interactive Brokers last week.
Pros: Brokerage fees are cheap and they cover stocks and forex (and others).
Cons: I don’t like their platform or margin leverage.

Opened a “Paper” Think or Swim account last week.
Pros: Like their platform better than IB’s but not as much as TDA’s. Margin leverage perfect.
Cons: Commissions are high.

So, here’s what I require and am still in search of. Hopefully ya’ll can point me in the right direction.
I need:
A very user-friendly platform
Ability to trade stocks and forex
Low commissions
Margin of 2:1 for stocks
Margin of 100:1 for forex

Thanks in advance for any info!
Happy trading!

What about tradestation? Awesome if you’re an active trader, but expensive if you just want to make a couple of trades a month.

Zecco seems a cheap solution but I haven0t tested on my own.

Hope any of these solutions helps you out.

Good luck.

I have been trading stocks for years but new to options, if i want to bet against Delta Air Lines?

And trade them on options, and i’m looking at the puts, which do I trade? I’m very confused.

You should not trade them at all until you are no longer confused……..one has to know what they are doing going in and when they are getting out…….
I would stay away from the airlines completely in long term trades…….
How do you like it when people use all these terms and dont explain anything? me either

When you buy and sell commodities, is it just like trading stocks?

What is to watch for in trading commodities? How is it different from stock trading? Can you set limit sell and limit buy positions like you do in stocks?

Its different in the fact that you wouldn’t mind delivery of a share certificate, but maybe not so pleased if you got ton of sugar or whatever dumped on ypur front lawn. With commodities you either deal in ETFs (securitised commodities) or the futures market.
Stocks and shares are just a tiny ownership of a company, proof of which is in the form odf a certificate or electronic schedule. Commodities are actually the physical thing changing hands. For example Tate & Lyle will actually be selling sugar to be put in bags for supermarkets. You could buy some of that sugar say for delivery in August. You have to sell or close the contract before then.

Cell phone company…do I have ANY rights?!?

Okay so I have a tmobile sidekick and my contract ends in september 2010.

1) A few months ago, thousands of sidekick users lost all their contacts, pictures, text messaging capabilities. I didn’t lose my contacts list but lost everything else. When that got fixed finally about 4 weeks later I never recieved any compensation. I read in the paper that Tmobile was compensating angry customers, however I never recieved a dime.

2) About 4 months ago NONE of my callers were able to reach my voice mail box, I called customer service multiple times and they threw me in the loop asking me to press buttons and rest my phone etc etc. I just got this fixed last night, now FINALLY people will be able to leave me voice messages.

3) on thanksgiving my phone gave out for no reason, the backlight just stopped working and i wasn’t able to see who was calling, texting me etc etc. Tmobile sent me a free refurbished phone because I had a warranty.

4) About 8pm this evening, I was going to make a call. My device informed me that I had no network and gave me a different warning when I made a phone call, send a text, go online or sign into my ymess/aol servers. My phone calls didn’t go through and obviously everything else didn’t either and discovered that all my contacts, pictures, previous calls, my Faves list, ring tones..basically anything that I added to the phone was completely wiped out.

I ended up calling customer service, who was able to fix the problem in about 5 minutes…no problem I didn’t sweat it.

5) At about 10 pm I went to make a call only to discover the same thing had happened again only this time my contacts list was normal. My faves and all my phone usage capabilities all dissapeared yet again.

To shorten this up, I called customer care and they tried to help me fix the issue again but this time it can’t be fixed. She offered to send me a refurbished phone…which is what I have now and is acting up on me! I said no, I want a new phone, I don’t want to go through this again. (I was actually really polite despite how frustrated I was, I know yelling and throwing a tantrum won’t get me anywhere). She said the only other option is to do a trade in and cause i’m not allowed one yet I would have to buy a new phone on my own. I didn’t want to do that and said I might just go ahead and cancel, if I’m going to buy a whole new phone I’m gonna go for a different company. So she sent me to another rep (she mentioned that he had better ability to bend the rules a bit)…well he wanted me to buy a new device of equivilant year as my phone for 60 bucks. When I first signed onto this stupid company, I didn’t pay nearly as much for the phone!! I haggled and got a deal for my first phone.

He said there was nothing else he could do. I’m so frustrated. I just don’t want to go through this again, to cancel it’s gonna cost me 200 bucks. I feel like they’re not providing me good cell phone service and that I either should get a new phone OR I shouldn’t have to pay for the cancellation fee.

Do I have any rights here? I’m at a loss, and I’m not sure what to do.

Advice please?

call back..speak to a manager..explain the situation..see what they can do..if they still wont do anything ask for the corporate address/fax #/email to file a formal complaint in writing..make sure to get the managers name and user ID or extension or whatever he will give you..all big corporations have a department to handle escalated complaints like this

also advise you will be forwarding your written complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Federal Trade Commission (FTC) , the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and the state comptrollers office for whatever state you are in.

it is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that you mention ALL of the above governing boards!!

Alot of times companies and/or management will have policies and procedures in place that as soon as a customer mentions any sort of reporting action, its like a magic word and suddenly other options become available. When you speak to this manager and if it gets to this point, dont be an assh0le but be firm. Your tone of voice is everything and he has to know that you mean business and you will follow through with your threats if necessary.

This isnt a guarantee that this will get you immediate results from the company, but if it doesnt make sure you really do follow through and send out those complaints in writing. If your complaint is sent to one of those commissions and it is forwarded to tmobile BY THAT COMMISSION then that takes things to a whole new level and most companies take that very seriously.

Just remember..get names/departments/locations/operator ID’s/extensions/phone numbers of whoever you talk to. These are anonymous call centers you are dealing with and may have multiple locations. Make everything in writing! Its taken much more serious.

Start with a manager and go from there. You are right about not losing your temper. This is important. You catch more flies with honey. Good luck!! Hope this helps!

I am aware of FOREX EA’s… What about Futures Trading Robots?

Hello,

I have been doing a lot of research and there are dozens and dozens if not hundreds of EA’s for use on MT4, trading FOREX.

But I am unable to find anything on robots for Futures trading. While I look forward to manually trading Futures in the evenings, it would be nice to have something to catch a good trend during pit hours, while I am away at work.

Thanks for any tips or keywords that may assist in a Google search. ; )

I haven’t also come across any automated futures trading system or what you are calling a futures robot. There are many futures contracts that you can trade. Maybe this has to do something with the nature of the futures market. You haven’t mentioned what type of futures contract you want to trade. Infact there are many dozens of futures contracts like stock index futures, crude oil futures, interest rate futures, commodity futures, currency futures and others. Futures markets are a lot different from forex. Futures market is a highly regulated market. You can find both price and volume in the futures market unlike forex where you only have the price action.

I came accross a swing trading strategy that works for forex, stocks and futures. This swing trading strategy takes not more than 10 minutes to trade each day. Many people think that automated trading is the solution or what you call the Holy Grail. Infact there is no holy grail. Successful traders are those who learn to trade manually first. Automated trading systems without knowning how to trade manually do not give good results as market conditions keep on changing and if you have the feel of how the market is changing you can change the setting of the automated trading system. You can only develop the feel of the market by manual trading. First practice and paper trade for one to two months. Only then trade live. Good Luck!

Since others are doing, my nba trade deadline thoughts…?

criticize me all you want or give me your ideas…but here’s how I see it…
-Washington trade Antawn Jamison and Deshaun Stevenson to the Cavs in Exchange for Ilgauskas, JJ Hickson, and a 2010 1st round pick. For the cavs, it’s overly obvious why this makes sense. The wizards seem like they are in clearing house mode with rumors lately. They get a big expiring to clear up room for the 2010 free agency class, they get potential in hickson and a pick.
-Washington trades Caron Butler to Milwaukee for Luke Ridnour and Joe Alexander. Milwaukee gets another offensive threat who could hopefully keep them competitive. Washington gets ridnour to man the point with agent zero gone. They get alexander who has potential.
-(going to get arguments on this one) The Knicks trade David Lee, Jared Jeffries, and Larry Hughes to the Rockets for T-Mac and a 2010 first. Most will say that houston won’t take on JJ’s contract, but honestly, he still plays great D, but you also get D-Lee who might make the all-star game via coaches selection. Hughes is just another shooter to mix in. The knicks get their expiring and a first they don’t have; granted, it’s a late rounder. As a knicks fan personally, I’m mixed on the whole t-mac situation. I’d rather keep lee personally, but it’s arguable when jeffries contract is thrown in the mix.
Minnesota trade Al Jefferson to the Golden State Warriors for Raja Bell, Speedy Claxton, Anthony Randolph, and a future first rounder. Minny wants to rid themselves of Al; Nelly wants to rid himself of Randolph. Match made in heaven. Randolph provides tons of potential to a young minnesota team while GS gets a young, proven power forward who is agile and athletic enough to fit the uptempo system.
Last One:
Utah trade Carlos Boozer to the Bulls for Tyrus Thomas, Taj Gibson, Jerome James, and a 2010 1st. Utah gets value for boozer who will surely leave after this year while acquiring expirings (one with potential in tyrus) as well as potential in taj and a first; The bulls acquire an excellent complement to Noah to fill out a great lineup.
I’ll rebut any arguments, but post them anyways.
Just two responses, for the bucks one, i’m not sure if caron has that much value due to his non-expiring, but I may be wrong.

and with al, my thought is that if Lee could fit in d’antoni’s system; I don’t see why al couldn’t make it work in GS considering he’s more athletic than lee

Appreciate the input never the less.

Like the first Cavs trade, and I think something like that will probably happen. Jamison would be a great fit for that team and with Shaq and Varejao, they no longer need Big Z. Think the Wiz would also like JJ Hickson as a good re-building block…

The second trade is great for the Bucks (I’m a fan so I’m happy!), but I think the Wiz could do better for Butler. Ridnour is a defensive liability and Joe Alexander hasn’t done much in the league thus far…

I actually like trade 3. Think the knicks are crazy to just focus on Lebron and should grab TMac while they can. Although giving up Lee wouldn’t be ideal for them, I think he’s somewhat overrated, as there’s very few other players on that roster who can rebound or score inside anyway. If they traded for TMac and spent whatever else they had on a quality big man, the kincks would be relevant again…can also see the Rockets liking this trade as well…

Trade 4 has one big problem, that I can see…how is Al going to fit into Nelly’s offensive system? Al is a half court/post up player and Nelly is all about running. Just can’t see how they’d fit…

Last trade is a nice one all round. Think Boozer would combine well with Rose and give the Bulls some interior strength. Utah also pick up a bunch of nice players and money (I’m not, and never will, include Jerome James as a player), but there could be some positional issues with Milsap at PF…

All up, good and thought-provoking question!
